Woodlands

Woodlands are a source of both income and beauty.
Optimum tree populations are determined by the kinds of trees planted, their adaptability to the soils, and most importantly, the management practices that are implemented.
All trees, existing and newly planted, must be properly thinned, pruned, managed, and harvested to maintain optimum levels of production.
Twigs, limbs, and other debris must be appropriately left on the surface to help maintain ground cover, reduce soil erosion, and provide wildlife habitat. As trees mature and are harvested, new plantings must be established. It is imperative to cut and remove undesirable trees and shrubs that rob the desired tree species of precious sunlight and moisture. Selective cutting provides valuable food and cover for wildlife. Growth and vigor of valuable trees are enhanced by maintenance of diversity, selective thinning, and maximization of vertical “layers.” These are just a few of the basic forestry principles that Presnell Land & Lodge can bring to bear in order to enhance the profitability and natural beauty of our clients' valuable woodlands.
