When you purchase beef for your family you should know where your beef comes from, how and what it has been fed. You should be assured that no antibiotics have been continually fed to make up for substandard management practices. You should know that no hormone growth implants have been used and exactly what medications have been used in the production process. You should know that your beef was produced in the healthiest conditions possible. You should be able to rest assured that your beef has been handled ethically and humanely throughout. Finally you should know how the beef has been handled, processed, aged and transported. Presnell Plantation has developed a system of best management practices. This management system requires us to treat each animal humanely at all times and assures you, the consumer, will be able to serve your family and friends the finest quality safest beef available anywhere.
Our beef begins with a genetically advanced Angus based herd of cows. The Angus breed is famous for providing top quality flavorful meat. These cows range naturally on pasture. They are bred to the best bulls available using artificial insemination, natural cover as well as embryo transplant technology.

The resulting calves nurse their mothers until weaned. The calves begin to eat grain approximately 60 days of age while still being nurtured by their mothers. At weaning, the calves are walked to separate pastures on our farm where they are free choice fed silage, hay, grain, and minerals in addition to the pasture they live on.
There is no need to feed our animals antibiotics like most commercial feedlots. Our beef is not crowded into tight quarters and fed a high protein diet like commercial feedlots. The fresh air, extra space, open pastures, and natural diet we provide our beef eliminate the need to feed antibiotics. We do not use hormone implants either. These inherently superior animals grow at rates that surpass most commercial feedlots. We feel the risks of using hormone implants are not justified and simply not a peril we wish to expose to your family.
Our cattle are processed locally on the same day they arrive for less stress. Our meat is USDA inspected and graded. All of the meat we sell grades prime or choice. The meat is then dry aged in a cooler for 18 to 21 days. During this aging period, we will work with you to answer any questions you may have concerning how you wish the meat cut and packaged. We offer standard packages or we can individualize each order to your exact specifications.
